Rhode Island real estate license or Rhode Island Realtor®, whats the difference?

Rhode Island Realtor License

Rhode Island- Most people think every Rhode Island real estate agent is a Realtor®. Not the case, in order for a licensee to hold themselves out to the public as a Realtor they must be members of the National Association of Realtors. So why does it matter? Only a Realtor® subscribes to a Strict Code of Ethics as mandated by the National  Association of Realtors®, what this means to buyers and sellers is that the agent avails themselves to a higher standard of conduct and ethics in dealing with the consumer and if the code is violated the member can have their membership revoked, suspended, fined and ordered to take ethics training to ensure they meet the standards and ideas set forth by the Realtor® Code of Ethics.  When thinking of buying or selling a home in Rhode Island always verify the agent is a Realtor® so you know you are dealing with an agent who has agreed to hold themselves to the high ethical and professional standards only a Realtor® pledges to maintain.
